Georec is about the World of Recreational angling. We are an online fishing community, promoting fishing and conservation through friendly competition and connecting with other anglers.
Georec is not just another fishing website. We believe in getting out and fishing not sitting in front of this screen. Being with your kids and/or buddies and bragging about the big catches, or the ones that got away.
Georec is about connecting with fellow local anglers but also about exploring the far reaches of our diverse planet to learn and share with fellow anglers around the world.
The Georec Challenge is our way of getting fishermen off the couch and into the water. There is nothing like being called "chicken" by your fishing buddy, to get you motivated into showing him or her who the best angler really is and going and catching some fish !
One of our focusses is on local friends. Fishing buddies can use Georec to communicate and share fishing tips and reports, without broadcasting this prime information to the whole world.
We want to see more kids enjoying fishing. The Georec Challenge is a great way to get interested in fishing. We also encourage kids to create a profile and network with their friends too. For this reason, we are very strict about this site being "family friendly". We also support and try and help promote fishing and related environmental conservation projects around the world.
Our goal is to try and keep these services free. We do that through advertising and sponsorship. So we ask you to support our sponsors so we can keep bringing you more features.
" Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. "
Chuck Clark
Use Lures and flies?
Because we are strong proponents of catch and release fishing, it is best to reduce injury to the fish as much as possible.
Bait hooks are often ingested deeper into the fish's mouth or throat than an artificial. This causes more severe and long term injury to the fish and contributes to catch and release mortality.
